Marches Mosses BogLIFE
The project aimed to restore Britain’s third-largest lowland raised bog within the Fenn’s, Whixall & Bettisfield Mosses and Wem Moss NNRs near Whitchurch, Shropshire and Wrexham in Wales.
The LIFE project was led by Natural England working in partnership with Natural Resources Wales and the Shropshire Wildlife Trust. The multi-million pound project was supported by an EU LIFE grant.
Thanks to National Lottery, a Heritage Grant has been awarded to Shropshire Wildlife Trust to unlock almost £5m of European funding. This ambitious project was created in partnership with Natural England, Natural Resources Wales and Shropshire Wildlife Trust, and has brought a much welcome injection of investment for the area over the last five years.
