Festival of National Nature Reserves
May 19th marks the beginning of a summer celebrating our National Nature Reserves (NNR’s), which is the 70th anniversary of the very first National Nature Reserve. The Festival of NNR’s will be a celebration of people and nature, of NNR’s past, present and future – and will provide an opportunity to speak about how they are essential for nature’s recovery, and at the heart of the developing Nature Recovery Network in England.
The idea is to create a sense of partnership, collective participation, alignment, and excitement through a summer-long series of events held at or near to NNRs across the whole of England. To view and attend these, check our events page.
Fenn’s, Whixall, Bettisfield and Wem Mosses are part of a NNR, and there are plans for several events throughout the summer to celebrate. For more information about the festival visit http://www.nnrfestival.com/. To support and join in on the celebrations, post online with the hashtag #NNRfestival.
